The Children’s Homes

1. Peace Home I (for girls) in Chiang Mai.

We now have 16 children in this first home. 2 of them are from South Thailand that the father was lost when Tsunami flood took place in their home town. 4 of them are studying in university, 2 in primary school and 10 in high school.

2. Peace Home II (for boys) in Chiang Mai.

There are 7 sons of pastors and elders of the churches. 4 of them are tribal that can not afford to send their children to college unless they can find free accommodation. These boys are serving at church during weekend. They perform as drivers, musicians and worship leaders on Sunday.

3. Peace Home III (for tribal boys and girls) in Weang Papoa, Chiang Rai.

There are 25 boys and girls live with pastor Supot and his wife to train them in the ministry and attend the government school at the same time. All of them are tribal children who live far away from school and they parents are very poor.
All of them have accepted Christ while staying here at the Peace Home. The pastor is trying to disciple them later send them to evangelize their own people. And it works! Now they have gospel outreach stations in 3 villages!

4. Peace Home IV (The Lahu Tribal children) at Mae Dorg Deang Church

There are 32 children at Mae Dorg Dang Village Church that pastor Subin and his wife are teaching them the Bible everyday after they come back from our school. Many of them are orphans that our foundation needs to find full support for them. Their names and short histories are on our website.

5. Agape Home V (for Karen Tribal children) at Mae Lamard, Tak.

There are 130 over Karen children that pastor Winai and his wife have been looking after them in Agape home for more than 10 years. Just 2 years ago, they applied to be under our foundation and transferred 5 Acer of land and 3 dormitory buildings to our foundation as well. In the future we may set up the primary school there with good support from the government.

We praise the Lord that all these 210 over children have already accepted Jesus into their lives. And some are looking for scholarship to study in Bible Colleges.

The first school of our foundation

Mitreejit Christian Primary School for Tribal Children

Since we have been supporting many tribal children in different homes, the committee had finally agree to take over one Christian school that was closing down in Chiang Mai down town and move it to the mountain area call ?Doisaket? where many of the tribal children homes are located.

The idea of having this tribal school is to reach out to the tribal children and their families. Many of them are so call Christians but do not really born again and walk with God. Some of them are still followed the old traditions that not living in line with Christian teaching. Moving down to the town they can easily follow the fashion of this world. The school will try to lead the children to Christ and take good care of them spiritually for 9 years while they are studying in our primary school. We will provide opportunity for the students to worship the Lord daily and to disciple the students since they are young to walk with the lord and be His disciples.

We also teach the academic subjects to the students aiming at excellent quality. The specific families who send their children to our school will have chance of a better lifestyle and future. The parents know that their children will have a better education and better future.

It is also good opportunity for the girls from Peace Home who graduate from Teachers? College will have opportunity to serve the Lord by being teachers at our school. Two of them will graduate this year and the other teachers are graduating next year.

We rent the old government school that had closed down for 7 years. The condition of the school building was very poor. We have to do the renovation of the whole place. After spending a lot of time and money on it, now it become a lively and beautiful school again.

This year 2007, we have altogether 115 students and receive a monthly support from the government about 41,000 baht or about 1,300 US dollars. But we have to pay the salary for 10 teachers and 2 workers about 92,000 baht per month. Next year we expect to have more than 250 students and receive support about 96,000 baht from the government adding to the money we receive from the parents or from different supporting foundations who send the children to our school, we should have enough money to run the school effectively. Only we need to invest on new school building in order to enlarge the capacity of the school in order to take in more students.

All these ministries have happened within 7 years since we have begun the ministry under the Far Corners World Mission. Many souls were saved eternally. Praise the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ who gave Himself to this wonderful plan of salvation for all mankind. Glory and honor be unto His name.
And thank you very much for your kind support throughout these years.

Report on 7 churches

1. Chiang Mai Creator?s Church (120 members)

The Chiang Mai Creator?s Church is the first church that we have set up in order to teach and train the children from Peace Home to worship the Lord and take active parts in serving God in their own local church. Most of them are now responsible for major activities in the church. The total membership used to grow up to 150 or more. Now 70 of the Lahu tribal members had gone to set up their own church to worship in their own language. The membership now is about 120 members. Pastor Kumpee Ronghanam is pasturing this church.

2. Mae Dorg Dang Creator?s Church (200 members)

We bought 5 acre piece of land to build Lahu Christian Village with 25 families living together surrounding the church building. They have 32 children within this village attend our school. Some Lahu people who live nearby also join membership of this church. They have more than 200 members attend Sunday service including 50 over children. Pastor Subin and his wife are taking care of this church.

3. Weang Papao Creator?s Church (75 members)

To lead children to Christ and train them up in local church is the motivation of pastor Supot and his wife to set up this church in Peace Home building at Weang Papoa. We brought the building that used to be a nursery to convert into Dormitory for boys and girls. Now we have more than 50 members apart from 25 children at this Peace Home. The pastor and his wife also train them to reach out to their own people in 3 of their villages. The church is growing and get stronger with the help of Rev. Doug Higgings, the missionary from Australia who help in teaching and preaching the Bible among all of our churches.

4. Sankampang Creator?s Church (100 mebers)

After the first Creator?s Church in Chiang Mai growing to 150 members, the worship place became narrow and some Lahu tribal members do not understand the Thai language very well, so they decided to open up the new church where they live (at Sankampang District) to worship in their own language. The membership is growing from 70 people to more than 100 members and they want to have their own church building and also move some 30 families to live together in order to look after one another. Most of their families moved down from the mountain where the government closed down the forest and not allow them to cut down tree to do farming anymore. Pastor Yothin and his wife are looking after them.

5. Doisaket Creator?s Church (100 members)

A group of 60 members Lahu tribal moved down from the mountain to live and work in Chiang Mai for some years but they still get together to worship the Lord every week. Pastor Thanongchai and his wife came and asked Far Corners Foundation Thailand (For Better Life ? In Thai language) to help finding a piece of land for them to settle down and build the permanent worship place so that they can live and raise up their children in Godly way. One pastor?s wife from Europe had committed to help with the funding. So we make agreement to buy 10 acre of land and Habitat for Humanity Thailand helped us build 10 houses in the first phase another 10 houses are in the process. The member is now increasing nearly double since we plan to build about 35 houses.

6. Nong Bua Creator?s Church (70 members)

After our first tribal church moved to our own land at Mae Dorg Dang, 17 other Lahu Christian families moved in to use the rented house to worship together for one year until last October 2007. There was a group of Christian from Australia helped us buy the land not very far from the church to build another Christian village with the church in the midst of them. It is about 5 acre and we have paid about ¼ of the price, the remaining need to be paid in one year. Habitat for Humanity Thailand is also trying to help us build 25 houses for the Lahu tribal members here as well. Most of the members work in the factory and some of them are construction workers. Pastor Artit and his wife are taking care of them.

7. Udornthani Chreator?s Church (70 members)

Udornthani is in North East of Thailand, about 10 hours drive from Chiang Mai. Pastor Somwang who works in Udorn Prison has the vision to open the church to welcome those prisoners who accepted Christ while in the prison but now some of them are released. With the help of some Christian leaders in the area, pastor Somwang was able to open the new church not very far from the prison. Last Christmas, 26 members were baptized and planning to build a new church building.

History

Background

Currently in Thailand there is a very distressing situation. Young girl between the ages of 3 to16 are sexually abused, raped, used as nude models and physically abused. It happens everywhere and is always in the news. The girls are deceived into losing their virginity and sold into prostitution by people close to them ? one they should be able to trust. Because of this we are concerned for the Thai young girls. This has damaged the Thai image. More importantly, are the effects of this on are society, the family, the relatives, the community and especially the girls themselves who are emotionally damaged in their souls. Life has lost its meaning, they are numb and cannot cope with life. To them, the world is evil. In order for these girls to return to a normal life it takes a long time to heal emotional wounds of the soul. It is because of this that ?House of Peace?, under the For a Better Life in Foundation was established to welcome these poor, mistreated girls. Through love, support and a warm caring environment, we want to enable them to be emotionally well: to heal and restore their soul. There are 4 areas we will develop: education, health, society and emotional well being. When these girls mature they will be valuable to society and will be good citizens..
?House of Peace? started on September 7, 2000 when it was accepted as a foundation by For a Better Life by the officers of National Culture. Permission was granted by the Department of welfare for ?House of Peace? to be a shelter that minister to children between the ages of 7 ? 18 years. The home will have 20 people per house in cooperation with Viengping House, Chiangmai.

Objectives

1. To set up a shelter for girls who are victims of sexual abused, control and being sold into prostitution.
2. To give education and a vocation so that they can be self ? supporting.
3. To develop and increase the value of life so they will be good citizens,
4. To protect them sexually and restore them. To give them confidence to live in society.
5. to prosper the public well ? being and cooperate with other charitable organizations for public benefit.

Goals

To provide loving, individual, gentle care by those closest to them in order to improve the morals, ethics and quality of life, the children will be able to go out with confidence interact with society and be good citizens.

Education: Give them the opportunity to study to the highest degree they are able to both within the school system and through night school.
Health: they will receive health care, nutritious meals and have regular check ups.
Society: they will receive experience outside the home. There will be educational trips that will enable them to have experience with many different aspects of society and will allow them to help others.
Emotional Wellbeing: the girls will be taught ethics how to live a good life according to God?s Word.
